Who Seeks Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine Services at Tang Wellness?

Many patients find Tang Wellness after years—sometimes decades—of unresolved symptoms, despite working with multiple specialists and undergoing extensive testing. For these patients, I am their medical detective, carefully analyzing their health history and using advanced diagnostic tools to undercover missing puzzle pieces and guide them back onto their healing path.

Others are drawn to a holistic, integrative medicine approach to managing chronic conditions such as autoimmune disease, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, or cardiovascular disease. While some patients are able to significantly improve—or even “reverse”—aspects of their disease through lifestyle interventions, this approach is not appropriate for everyone. I help patients understand whether lifestyle-based strategies may be safe and effective.

Some patients come to Tang Wellness with a focus on prevention, longevity, and optimizing health through life’s transitions—whether preparing for a healthy pregnancy, navigating perimenopause and menopause, or preserving vitality and function as they age.

Across all of these paths, patients choose Tang Wellness for a deeply personalized experience—one in which they feel heard, understood, and supported with care plans tailored to where they are in their health journey.

Common Questions About My Practice

Your health story began long before your first symptom. Deep dive medicine is a personalized, root-cause approach to care that looks beyond symptoms to understand your full health story. From early life through adulthood, I examine how genetics, environmental exposures, lifestyle, and lived experience interact to influence health. Using advanced diagnostic testing and a systems-based framework, I identify the underlying root causes of illness and create personalized treatment plans that support lasting healing, resilience, and vitality.
Tang Wellness was designed with patients at the center of care. Visits are never rushed: new patient appointments last 90 to 120 minutes, and follow-up visits are typically 60 minutes. I offer flexible scheduling, including select evening and weekend hours, and home visits for patients who prefer care in their own environment.

With nearly two decades of experience in Internal Medicine and integrative care, I specialize in treating:

  • Autoimmune Diseases
  • Chronic Stress
  • Diabetes and Metabolic Dysfunction
  • Cardiovascular Disease
Gastrointestinal Disease (IBS, GERD, food sensitivities, dysbiosis)
  • Neuroinflammation and Neurodegenerative Diseases
  • Preparing for Healthy Pregnancy
  • Preventive Health Care
  • Longevity Science

If your condition is not listed, I encourage you to schedule a complimentary discovery call to determine whether Tang Wellness may be a good fit.

Unfortunately, I do not treat children. My medical training is in Internal Medicine, and I am licensed to treat adults ages 18 and over. If you have a child under the age of 18, I can provide referrals for well-trained integrative pediatricians.
Your initial appointment is 90-120 minutes. Before this appointment, you will complete detailed health history and lifestyle questionnaires, and I may review prior medical records. During your visit, we will map your health timeline—from early life through adulthood. We will discuss environmental exposures, lifestyle habits, stress patterns, and your lived experience. You will share your priorities and goals for care. Patients leave the first visit with clear next steps, including advanced diagnostic testing to uncover root causes and personalized recommendations that they can act on immediately.

Yes, as a primary care physician for over a dozen years, prevention is my passion. My preventive approach emphasizes longevity science—empowering patients to maintain an active and productive lifestyle for as long as possible. And since data (information) is power, I offer advanced diagnostic tests that often are not available at conventional primary care practices, such as early markers of insulin resistance, advanced lipid analysis, inflammatory markers, and mitochondrial health assessments.

Tang Wellness is a consultative integrative medicine practice and does not replace primary care. I work collaboratively with your primary care physician, who continues to oversee routine screenings, immunizations, and general medical care.

Yes. Telehealth visits are available for established patients, and many follow-up appointments can be conducted virtually. New patient visits are typically in person—either at my office in Boise, Idaho, or in your home— to allow for a comprehensive initial evaluation. Some conditions may require in-person follow-up, which we will plan together.

Tang Wellness is a solo, physician-led practice and does not bill insurance directly. For most commercially insured patients, I provide a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Superbills cannot be provided for Medicare, Medicaid, or Kaiser Permanente plans, as these plans do not reimburse services provided at Tang Wellness.

Some advanced diagnostic tests may be covered through insurance-preferred laboratories, while others are available only through specialty labs and may require self-pay. For patients with Medicare, Medicaid, Kaiser Permanente, or those paying out of pocket, Tang Wellness participates in Quest Laboratories’ self-pay discount program.

Yes. I offer a complimentary 20-minute discovery call for prospective patients interested in integrative and root-cause medicine. During this call, we will discuss your goals, answer your questions about the practice, and explore whether Tang Wellness is the right fit. This call is informational in nature, and medical advice cannot be provided until a formal patient relationship is established.

Not at all. My practice is designed to complement—not replace—your existing care. I work collaboratively with your primary care physician and specialists to provide integrative, consultative support as part of your broader healthcare team.
